“Debido a la gran demanda de espectadores, esta fue el cuarto banco telefónico comunitario que Telemundo62 presentó este año relacionado con asuntos migratorios. El pasado banco telefónico fue en julio del 2017, que salió al aire en Telemundo62 y se enfocó en la inmigración, recibiendo más de 200 llamadas en tan sólo 90 minutos. El foco del cuarto estuvo en ‘DACA’, en el cual nos asociamos con organizaciones latinas locales para responder las preguntas de los espectadores y sus preocupaciones con respecto a la inmigración”. – Diana Torralvo, NBC10 y Telemundo62.

"Due to high viewer demand, this was the fourth community phone bank that Telemundo62 hosted this year related to immigration issues. The previous phone bank in July 2017, which aired on Telemundo62 and focused on immigration, garnered more than 200 calls in only 90 minutes. El gigante tecnológico Google se comprometió hoy a aportar un millón de dólares a la Fundación de la Comunidad Latina (LCF) para crear una aceleradora que asesore y apoye a un grupo de organizaciones hispanas sin ánimo de lucro en California.

In the context of expansion of organized crime in Mexico, migrants have become easy targets, as they are more visible, easily identifiable as migrants and, in many cases, they walk on a predetermined route. At least 400 immigrants were killed on their way from Central America to the US in 2015.
