The hurricane's human cost is particularly apparent in Immokalee, a southwestern Florida town of around 20,000 inhabitants where approximately half of the population are undocumented farmworkers from Mexico, Guatemala and Haiti who work in tomato, cucumber, bell pepper and pumpkin fields.

Sessions calls for punishing, not protecting, criminals in sanctuary cities

In Miami, Sessions lambasted so-called "sanctuary cities" - municipalities and other local entities that refuse to cooperate with voluntary immigration programs and including Chicago and San Francisco - and he blamed them for crimes committed by undocumented immigrants.

10th immigrant found in overheated tractor-trailer dies in Texas

 Among the dead was a so-called Dreamer, a migrant brought to the United States as a young child. Another 30 undocumented immigrants packed in the trailer were still alive but gasping from the lack of oxygen and the sweltering heat. They were taken to nearby hospitals where 17 are in critical condition.

Representantes políticos de 10 estados "rojos" de EEUU han pedido a la Administración Trump que elimine el programa DACA, que en la actualidad protege a cerca de 800,000 inmigrantes indocumentados en todo el país de ser deportados. Hace menos de un mes, el secretario de Seguridad Nacional John Kelly aseguró que los derechos de los DACA serían respetados bajo el gobierno de Trump.
